By offering a range of activities outside of the classroom, all Brookside kids can find something just right for them. There are annual Brookside events and activities for both students and their families, such as Christmas and year-end celebrations. Playing on the Playground is a daily event for most kids. Also check out the goodwill opportunities to share with others that occur throughout the year.

Playground
In 1999/2000 the students were involved in the community effort to raise money for a new playground by collecting milk carton UPC labels from Dairyland. Many of them also worked along side community members to help build the structures. The playground opened in June 2000.

Extracurricular Activities(2004)**

  • Running club
  • Lunch hour Intramurals
  • School choir
  • Christmas concert
  • "Hamburger Days" and other special days
  • Cold Weather Lunch Clubs will operate on all days when outside lunch recess is not possible. Teachers and Lunch Room Supervisors will run the following clubs: Computer, Library, Games, Sports, and Art/Craft.

    Goodwill Projects

Blue Ribbon Campaign - Students and adults donated to the tsunami victims.

  • Inner City School/Bissell Centre - Unclaimed lost and found items such as scarves, mitts and other clothing items are washed and donated to inner city schools and Bissell Centre.

Christmas Hampers - Cards, gifts and food hampers were sent to needy families. We hope we made their Christmas special (December, 2003). ** Note: the activities can change from year to year, depending upon the needs and the resources of the staff, students and the community.
