This is my sixth year as principal of Brookside School. I have worked in Edmonton Public Schools for 28 years as an elementary teacher, Curriculum Coordinator and Principal. During those 28 years I have taught at Parkdale, Allendale, Windsor Park and Meadowlark Schools. My undergraduate work was in the area of language arts and music. I have studied in Montreal at McGill University and here at the University of Alberta.I am married and have three children. I am originally from Montreal but I have called Edmonton my home for the past thirty years. Reading, running, knitting and listening to music are some of my favourite past time activities.
Brookside offers outstanding Literacy programming, an excellent teaching staff and a warm and caring environment. Problem-based learning, which integrates science, math and the humanities, is a key characteristic. We seek to provide a challenging curriculum with flexibility to meet the needs of each student.
Children need excellent programming delivered by thoughtful, caring and skilled teachers. Brookside is such a place. We look forward to a great year.
Principal's Message (January 21, 2010)
Professional Development is important work. Keeping current with new curricula, improving upon teaching techniques and making the link between great teaching and students’ learning is an ongoing process. Our teachers and educational assistants are partaking in a number of professional development sessions in the next month.
Happy 2010 to all of you! I wish you peace, happiness and good health. I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas break. Our students and staff have started the new year with renewed energy and enthusiasm. January and February are prime teaching times in the school year and it is gratifying to see the children push ahead as they meet their new goals.
